City of Indian Rocks Beach
Library

The library of Indian Rocks Beach opened in 1974 in the small front left-hand corner of City Hall. From this inauspicious beginning, the library grew and moved to rooms behind City Hall, where eventually a new room was added for a children’s library. And, then moved again into the remodeled, redecorated corner of police headquarters. Volunteers, friends, and the city are responsible for the enormous success of our very friendly and well-stocked library that serves the needs of the Indian Rocks Beach citizens, surrounding cities, and our many winter visitors. The library is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Saturdays from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM. The collection contains about 20,000 books: fiction, non-fiction children’s and large print. The library also has over 1500 VCR movies for adults and 225 for children. There are approximately 435 audio books on tape and a new and growing collection of music CD’s, as well as DVD books and movies. Five computers are available for public use. The library has a well stocked reference room and a reading room complete with comfortable chairs. The Wall Street Journal and The St Pete Times are delivered daily to the library.
